GREAT LOCATIONS On our half-day, full-day, and group trips, we wade-fish the South Platte River, at points from 45 to 75 miles west of Colorado Springs. The South Platte averages about 40 feet in width, generally has a moderate flow rate, and is easily waded. Fishing areas include pine-covered mountain valleys and meandering meadow sections of the South Platte River and large reservoirs. Fish species inhabiting the South Platte include rainbow, brown and cutthroat trout, with rainbows most common.

Chico Basin Ranch is an 87,000 acre ranch located 45 minutes from the Broadmoor in southeast El Paso County. It's five spring fed lakes host an abundant population of large-mouth bass, trophy bluegill, and large crappie. Fly fishing is superb for all three species. It is common to catch 30 to 60 fish on the fly in a 4 to 6 hour period - a real hoot on a light fly rod. We fish from pontoon or belly boats and the guide provides instruction as appropriate, all equipment and flies. Lunch provided on full day trips.

 

GUIDED FLY-FISHING TRIPS Our guided fly fishing trips are designed for maximum fun. Beginner or advanced fishers will receive expert instruction by our highly skilled, professional guides. You will learn to read the water, spot fish and select the correct fly.

FLY CASTING INSTRUCTION Our instructors will custom design lessons to fit your skill level and casting style. For the beginner we teach basic mechanical skills and the fundamentals of fly casting.

For the intermediate and advanced caster, instruction includes the double haul for distance, shooting line, precision casting and correcting those bad habits. We provide all equipment and can schedule daily instruction at your convenience.
